St Cuthbert's cross

September 1, 2013

The Life Path event at Brinkburn Priory in 2013 was blessed with glorious weather. The children, representing a number of Northumberland Schools, were welcomed into a marvellous environment where they sampled a whole host of activities that reflected on the spiritual life and faith of St. Cuthbert. My contribution was to create a large scale version of the cross that was buried with St.Cuthbert, which essentially meant having the children create hundreds of small jewels that would be assembled into one huge jewel. The result was better than I could have ever imagined, and this is all due to the marvellous organisation of the event and the whole hearted involvement of the pupils and staff of all the schools. Brilliant. I should also send a personal thanks to David Robson who had the jigsaw skills to make me a wooden template of the cross. Cheers chum.
