Flow Environmental project

flow project

South Tyneside

December 8, 2010

The Flow Environmental project was a wide ranging attempt to educate hundreds of pupils across many schools in South Tyneside about the environmental issues facing the planet. Children had input about one particular country or region from Groundworks education officers and I would follow in later to reinforce the teaching with some arts and crafts activities. The grand vision was to culminate in a huge Globe that would rotate by cycle power and be situated outside the Customs house in South Shields. The Globe, made by Richard Broderick, was duly installed, but the weather that December was so atrocious that it was decided the childrens craft items would never withstand the onslaught. In the end a good compromise was made by showing a large sample of the work in the Environmental lodge at East Boldon.
